BELLEVILLE — A former Illinois mechanic blames a host of companies for causing his lung cancer.

Joseph Restoff filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against several manufacturers, including CBS Corporation, Gardner Denver Inc. and Sears Roebuck and Company.

According to the complaint, Restoff was exposed to asbestos fibers while working as a mechanic and laborer at A&P Company in Sauget, Illinois. Restoff learned of his lung cancer in June 2015. Restoff claims the defendants intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when they knew that it had toxic properties.

Restoff requests a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by Benjamin R. Schmickle and Matthew C. Morris of SWMW Law in St. Louis.
