BELLEVILLE — A motorist alleges she was injured when a tractor trailer driver employed by Newman Carriers caused a collision.
Laurel Buchanan, formerly known as Laurel Adler, filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Newman Carriers Inc. and Scott R. Blakley, alleging Blakley failed to exercise reasonable care for the safety of others.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 29, 2016, she was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 near its intersection with Clear Lake Avenue when her vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer driven by Blakley and owned by Newman.
Buchanan claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries both externally and internally.
The plaintiff alleges Blakley failed to keep the tractor trailer under proper control, failed to keep an adequate lookout and failed to use evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against each defendant in a sum exceeding $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Kenneth D. Beljanski and Jaye R. Lindsay of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
