BELLEVILLE — A husband and wife brought a lawsuit against several manufacturers over alleged asbestos exposure.

Edward and Judy Carr filed the complaint on July 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against various companies, including Armstrong Pumps, Flowserve US and Mueller Company.

According to the complaint, Edward worked with products containing asbestos during his career as an ironworker. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in March, the complaint states. Plaintiffs claim the companies allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of more than $50,000. They are represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates in Edwardsville.
