Car accident 35

EDWARDSVILLE — A Jerseyville motorist is suing another driver for allegedly traveling in the wrong direction on I-255, causing a multi-vehicle collision.

Timothy J. Varble filed a complaint on July 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Amanda K. Runtz, alleging she failed to keep her vehicle under proper control.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 17, he was traveling northbound in the left lane on Illinois Highway 255 near milepost 19 when Runtz unlawfully travelled in the wrong direction of the highway and struck the front end of Marlon D. Bufford's vehicle, causing plaintiff to strike the rear of Bufford's vehicle. The plaintiff's vehicle rolled over and crash into the ditch.

The plaintiff holds Runtz responsible because the defendant allegedly recklessly operated her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and negligently travelled southbound in the northbound left lane on Illinois Highway 255.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Craig J. Jensen of MeyerJensen PC in Alton.
