EDWARDSVILLE — A special administrator is suing Alton Memorial Hospital after a patient allegedly fell and suffered severe head injuries, resulting in her death.

Patrick Robinson, as special administrator of the estate of Gayle Marlene Robinson, deceased, filed a complaint on July 20 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Memorial Hospital, alleging it failed to exercise the highest degree of care and caution.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 14, 2016, Gayle Marlene Robinson was admitted to Alton Memorial for treatment of medical conditions. While under the defendant's care, the decedent allegedly fell and violently struck the back of her head on the ground. As a result, she suffered a large hematoma and laceration to her head, resulting in her death on July 24, 2016.

The plaintiff holds Alton Memorial Hospital responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to implement safety measures, monitoring and assistance to prevent the decedent from falling and failed to render medical services consistent with her medical needs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater then $50,000, plus costs and all other relief that are equitable and just. He is represented by Craig D. Brown of Meyers & Flowers LLC in Chicago.
