BELLEVILLE — Several product manufactures face a lawsuit brought by a couple for alleged asbestos exposure.

Leonard and Cheryl Brown filed a complaint on July 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against the defendants, including Aurora Pumps, Walmart and Champaign A&K Insulation Company, alleging they failed to warn about the dangers of asbestos.

According to the complaint, Leonard inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products while working various jobs between 1974 and 2018. Last year, Leonard found out he had lung cancer, the complaint states. The plaintiffs claim the companies intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when they knew that it had toxic effects.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of more than $50,000. They are represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates in Edwardsville, IL.
