BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County motorist is suing two insurance companies following a crash caused by an uninsured driver.

Stephen D. Woods filed a complaint on July 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Automobile Club Inter-Insurance Exchange and Auto Club Family Insurance Company, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, an uninsured driver rear-ended Woods on Illinois Route 159. He sustained injuries to his neck and incurred medical expenses of more than $10,000, the complaint states. Woods claims he demanded the insurance companies come together for arbitration according to his auto policy, but they refused.

Woods seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by Andrew G. Toennies of Lashly & Baer in St. Louis.
