BENTON — A Carbondale woman faces a federal lawsuit for failing to make payments on her student loans.
United States of America filed the complaint on June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Charlotte Stearns, alleging she breached a loan agreement.
According to the complaint, Stearns owes more than $127,000, but has not made payments on the loans.
The plaintiff requests a jury trial and payment of the loan, plus interest. Adam E. Hanna of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Fairview Heights.is pursuing the matter.
