Swansea woman sued over unpaid loans

BENTON — A Swansea woman faces a federal lawsuit over $130,000 worth of unpaid government loans.

The federal government filed a complaint on June 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Carol Burkhead-Fox, alleging she defaulted on two loans.

According to the complaint, the government claims Burkhead-Fox stopped paying on the loans in May. 

The government seeks repayment of the loans totaling more than $138,000, plus administrative fees. 

Donald S. Boyce and Adam E. Hanna of United States Attorneys' Office in Fairview Heights is pursuing the case.
