BENTON — An insurer is suing a for-hire motor carrier following a tractor-trailer crash in Clark County.
National Liability and Fire Insurance Company filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against USF Holland, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, a driver for USF Holland caused a crash involving a tractor-trailer owned by V Trust Carriers Inc., which holds a policy with the insurance company. The collision destroyed V Trust Carriers' freight shipment worth approximately $38,000, the complaint states.
After USF Holland allegedly refused to pay for the damages, the insurance company filed suit.
The plaintiff seeks a jury trial and damages.
The insurance company is represented by Timothy P. Dugan of Cassiday Schade in St. Louis.
