BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County couple claim a 2015 Nissan Murano purchased from Nissan North America and St. Clair Nissan caused a fire that destroyed their home.

Tyrone and Yvonne Glispie filed the complaint on June 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nissan North America Inc. and St. Clair Nissan Inc., alleging that the automobile dealers negligently sold the car despite a problem with leaking brake fluid.

According to the complaint, brake fluid from the Glispies' 2015 Nissan Murano leaked onto a circuit board and caught fire while parked at their home. The resulting fire destroyed the car, another vehicle and the couple's home. The couple also suffered injuries, the complaint states.

The Glispies seek a jury trial and damages. They are represented by Matthew J. Sauter of Sauter Sullivan in St. Louis.
