Widow blames husband's lung cancer on asbestos exposure from Warner Morse, others' products

BELLEVILLE – A widow alleges her husband's lung cancer was caused by asbestos exposure during his career.  

Francelia Beam, individually and as special representative of the estate of Gregory Beam, deceased filed a complaint on June 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Borg-Warner Morse TEC LLC, Formosa Plastics Corp. USA, General Electric Co., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of Gregory Beam's exposure to asbestos fibers emanating from products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants during his career from 1977 to 2002, he developed lung cancer which ultimately led to his death on Nov. 24, 2017. 

The plaintiff holds Borg-Warner Morse TEC LLC, Formosa Plastics Corp. USA, General Electric Co., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when they knew that it had toxic, poisonous and highly deleterious effect to human health and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
