BELLEVILLE – A patron of a Belleville business alleges he contracted cellulitis after receiving a pedicure there.

Michael Demery filed a complaint May 31 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Andy Tran and West Belleville Nail Spa alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 22, 2017, he obtained a pedicure at the defendants' spa and later contracted cellulitis.

The plaintiff holds Tran and West Belleville Nail Spa responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly and adequately clean, disinfect or sanitize the spa's equipment.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in a sum of more than $50,000, plus costs of court.

He is represented by Gregory Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
