BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a collision on Illinois State Route 158.

Woodie D. Maples filed a complaint on June 8 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Lelia L. Joslin, alleging she breached her duty to drive her vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, Maples alleges that on June 16, 2016, he was driving a vehicle traveling eastbound on Illinois State Route 158 when Joslin caused her vehicle to violently collide with the plaintiff's vehicle.

Maples claims he sustained severe injuries resulting in pain and suffering, disability, lost wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Joslin failed to keep proper control of her vehicle, failed to be alert while driving and failed to take evasive actions to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount of not less than $50,000, plus costs of suit.

He is represented by Arthur W. Morris of Traughber & Morris Ltd. in Columbia.
