BELLEVILLE — A union carpenter is suing a contractor and subcontractor after he allegedly suffered injuries due to accumulated water and debris.

Robert Lanham filed a complaint on May 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against The Korte Company and Bergmann-Roscow Plumbing Inc., alleging they failed to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 4, 2016, he was injured while working on a construction project at Scott Air Force Base.

He claims he suffered severe, permanent and disabling injuries that resulted in great pain, mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly maintain the construction site by allowing water and debris to accumulate in an area where people are working and failed to provide warning of the hazards on the job site.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of court.

He is represented by Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin & Cook LLP in Belleville.
