EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist alleges a Fairview Heights man caused a collision on Illinois Route 143.
Mia Swisher filed a complaint May 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Derek Machens alleging he breached his duty to exercise reasonable care while driving.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 21, 2017, she was attempting to turn right onto Illinois Route 143 in Madison County when the defendant's vehicle struck the rear of Swisher's vehicle.
Swisher claims she suffered injuries to her spine, neck and back.
The plaintiff alleges Machens failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield and failed to stop, swerve or slow down to avoid a collision.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for more than $50,000, costs of court and all other relief deemed necessary and just.
