Slip01

EDWARDSVILLE — A man claims he was injured after falling at a convenience store.

Fatmir Jao filed a complaint May 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mac's Convenience Store LLC, Circle K Stores Inc. and J&D Meyer Limited, alleging they failed to maintain the store premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 26, 2016, he was a customer at the defendants' convenience store in Maryville when he slipped and fell in the men's restroom.

He claims he suffered serious, permanent and progressive injuries to his back, upper extremities and shoulders and incurred medical expenses in excess of $25,000.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to inspect the premises to discover liquid on the floor, failed to make the conditions safe and failed to provide a warning.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants of more than $50,000, with interest and costs.

He is represented by Michael T. Flachs Jr. of Cervantes & Associates in St. Louis.
