Bechtel Corporation, others allegedly failed to warn man about dangers of asbestos fibers

Asbestos 09

BELLEVILLE — An individual is suing Bechtel Corporation, Chicago Bridge & Iron Company and several other companies for alleged negligence.

Bill Henthorn filed a complaint on May 15 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to exercise reasonable care and caution for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers at various times during his career due to allegedly being around products that allegedly were manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants.

In May 2016, he allegedly learned that he had developed lung cancer that allegedly was caused by being exposed to asbestos fibers, the complaint states. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly including asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and for allegedly failing to warn him about the dangers of working around products that contain asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory in an amount that exceeds $50,000, plus punitive damages and any further relief that the court may deem appropriate. He is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
