Driver allegedly under the influence of intoxicants during crash

EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger claims a motorist was under the influence of intoxicants when he crossed the center median and caused a crash. 

Benjamin Adams filed a complaint on May 16, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Scott Aulabaugh alleging negligence. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 14, 2017, he was a passenger in a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro traveling north on Route 3 in Granite City when Aulabaugh, who was driving a Kia, allegedly crossed the median lane and struck the vehicle Adams was riding in. 

Adams claims he suffered injuries to the wrist, ankle and back. 

The plaintiff claims Aulabaugh negligently operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in a sum in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit. 

The plaintiff is represented by Lanny Darr of Darr Law Offices Ltd. in Alton.
