Man alleges injuries after falling from ladder

EDWARDSVILLE — A man claims he was injured when he fell from a ladder while attempting to repair a Pontoon Beach building. 

Ronald Shafer Jr. filed a complaint on May 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Ian Shafer, Mason Ronald Shafer and Susan Shafer, alleging they failed to provide a safe working condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 4 , 2016, he was injured while helping to repair the defendants' building in Pontoon Beach when he fell from the ladder. 

The plaintiff claims he suffered severe and permanent injuries, including a fractured ankle, lost wages and incurred medical expenses of approximately $90,900. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to hold the ladder in place and failed to warn him that no one is holding on the ladder.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of this action and all further relief that are proper under the circumstances.
