BELLEVILLE — A driver claims she was severely injured in a crash in Belleville.

Erica Hansell filed a complaint April 20 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robert L. Howell alleging he breached his duty to exercise due care and caution for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 8, 2016, she was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion eastbound on Lebanon Avenue. She claims the defendant, who was coming from the opposite direction, made a left turn on to Schilling Avenue and struck her vehicle. She sustained severe and permanent injuries to her head, neck, back, feet, ankles and to her body as a whole, the suit claims. The plaintiff holds Howell responsible because he allegedly failed to be attentive, failed to the yield right of way and failed to reduce his speed, swerve or stop to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Aaron D. Lefton of Law Offices of Jerome L. T. Lefton LLC in St. Louis.
