EDWARDSVILLE — A woman alleges a moving company overcharged her and lost or damaged her belongings while helping move her family to Florida.

Solei Dyment filed a complaint on April 19 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Cross Country Movers LLC, doing business as Affordable Movers, et al, alleging they violated the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 2017, she contracted the defendants to move her family's furniture and belongings to Florida for an estimated cost of $6,750. However, she alleges some of the items were lost and damaged.

Dyment claims the defendants failed to deliver her family's belongings in a timely manner, failed to deliver it all in an undamaged state and wrongfully overcharged her of at least $5,231.84.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $20,000, plus attorney's fees, costs and all further relief deemed just and proper.

She is represented by Mark C. Goldenberg, Kevin P. Green and Thomas C. Horscroft of Goldenberg Heller & Antognoli PC in Edwardsville.
