EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist alleges another driver caused a collision when he attempted to turn in front of the plaintiff's vehicle.
Dominic D. Dunnavant filed a complaint on March 26 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jonathan T. Copeland, alleging he breached his duty to operate a vehicle in a careful and prudent manner.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 8, he was traveling northbound on Madison Avenue at its intersection with 25th Street while Copeland was coming from the opposite direction. Dunnavant alleges Copeland carelessly attempted to make a left hand turn in front of his vehicle, causing a collision.
The plaintiff claims he sustained property damage and car rental expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Copeland failed to maintain careful lookout, failed to yield right of way and failed to take evasive actions at the first appearance of danger.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of $50,000, plus court cost.
He is represented by Peter J. Maag of Maag Law Firm LLC in Wood River.
