BELLEVILLE — A disabled veteran is suing the City of Mascoutah and a police officer alleging intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Tyler McGowan filed a complaint on April 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kevin McGinnis and the City of Mascoutah, alleging they recklessly disregarded his health and well being.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendants threatened to have him disappear, threatened to charge him with a trumped up crime and threatened to disrupt his disability benefits.

As a result, McGowan alleges he suffered severe injury, pain and suffering, fear for his life, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs and any other relief the court deems proper and just.

He is represented by James P. Beasley of Kuehn Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
