BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County woman claims she was injured at the Belleville Wal-Mart when a box fell from the top shelf.

Tiffany McBreen filed a complaint April 3 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging it breached its duty to secure boxes on its shelves.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 1, 2016, she was shopping at a Wal-Mart store in Belleville when a large, heavy box fell off the top shelf and fell on her head.

McBreen claims she sustained severe injuries, resulting in pain, lost wages, disability and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to prevent the boxes from falling off shelves and failed to warn shoppers of the possible danger of falling boxes.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000 and any further relief that the court may deem necessary.

She is represented by Matthew P. Young of Kuehn, Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
