Driver sues over East St. Louis collision

Car accident 33

BELLEVILLE — A driver claims she sustained injuries following an East St. Louis collision.

Ruth Cleggett filed a complaint April 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Christopher Gaston and Jessica Hunt, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 24, she was driving southbound on 47th Street when Gaston, who was driving eastbound on State Street in East St. Louis, struck her vehicle at the intersection.

As a result, Cleggett claims her neck, back, right shoulder and right hip were injured in the collision.

The plaintiff alleges Gaston negligently disregarded a traffic control device, failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to stop his vehicle quickly. She also alleges Hunt negligently entrusted her vehicle to Gaston.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.

She is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
