BELLEVILLE — A personal representative is suing healthcare providers for allegedly causing a patient's death.
Sandra K. Kohlbrecher, as independent personal representative of the estate of William L. Kohlbrecher, deceased filed a complaint on March 27, in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Stacy Strattmann, MD, Lincoln Surgical Associates Ltd., et al., alleging they failed to apply the knowledge, skill and care ordinarily used by highly-qualified health care providers.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Nov. 28, 2016, and Dec. 5, 2016, the defendants provided medical services to decedent William Kohlbrecher. However, the plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to explore the decedent's abdominal cavity and negligently caused perforation of the duodenum leading to septicemia and death.
As a result, William Kohlbrecher died on Jan. 10, 2017, causing grief, sorrow, permanent injuries and damages to his next of kin.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus court costs.
She is represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin & Cook LLP in Belleville.
