BELLEVILLE — A man claims he was injured when his vehicle was struck by a freight train.

Jason Mulholland and Ruby Mulholland filed a complaint on March 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Illinois Central Railroad Company and Bowlby Farms LLC, et al., alleging they failed to maintain the railroad crossing in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on March 18, 2016, Jason Mulholland was injured when the vehicle he was driving collided with a freight train owned and operated by Illinois Central Railroad.

The plaintiff claims he suffered injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, mental anguish, wage loss and disability.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to provide a safe railroad crossing and failed to provide appropriate warnings and/or other safety devices.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of court and all other proper and just relief.

They are represented by Nathaniel O. Brown of Weilmuenster & Keck PC in Belleville.
