BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing Fairview Heights police officers for allegedly forcing her to walk on an injured ankle.

Athira Mohd Nor filed a complaint on March 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against SMA LLC, Richard Roe and John Doe, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 24, 2017, she was lawfully upon SMA's premises when she slipped and fell in the parking lot, injuring her ankle.

Shortly after her fall, Nor claims she was a passenger in a vehicle with her ex-boyfriend. He was pulled over at the O'Fallon Taco Bell and arrested for various offenses.

Although Nor was not charged with a crime, she was also taken to the police station. She alleges she was ordered to walk on her injured ankle and eventually collapsed when she could no longer support her weight.

The plaintiff alleges the police officers ignored her complaints of an ankle injury, ordered her to walk despite her complaints and failed to timely provide medical treatment. She also alleges SMA breached its duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.

Nor claims she suffered a fractured ankle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs of suit and any other relief deemed just and proper.

She is represented by Derek J. Siegel of Kuehn Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
