Motorist allegedly caused collision while attempting to merge

Car accident 23

BELLEVILLE — A motorist alleges another driver attempting to merge into traffic caused a collision.

Cecilia Light filed a complaint on March 22 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Newton Grisham and George Johnson, alleging they failed to operate their vehicles in a careful and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 31, 2016, she was traveling west on Interstate 64 when Grisham attempted to merge into traffic without yielding the right of way and causing Johnson to swerve and collide with the plaintiff's vehicle.

Light claims she suffered injuries to her neck, back, and shoulder.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to maintain proper control of their respective vehicles and failed to keep a proper and vigilant lookout for other vehicles on the road.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in a sum in excess of $50,000 and all other relief deemed just and proper.

She is represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi & Associates PC in Bellville.
