Mount Vernon woman alleges injuries from I-64 crash

Car accident 04

BELLEVILLE — A Mount Vernon woman claims she was injured in a collision on Interstate 64.

Jazmine B. Hawkins filed a complaint March 20 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Paramjit Singh, HJM Transport Inc. and Kathy A. Hulbert, alleging Singh and Hulbert failed to drive their respective vehicles in a careful and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 12, 2016, she was a passenger in a Mazda driven by Hulbert when Singh, who drove a semitrailer owned by HJM, maneuvered in a manner that caused Hulbert to collide with another semitrailer, lose control of her vehicle and hit a concrete median wall.

Hawkins claims she suffered injuries to her head, neck and lower back and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Singh and Hulbert failed to keep their respective vehicles under control and failed to take evasive actions to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this action.

She is represented by Mark D. Hassakis of Hassakis & Hassakis PC in Mount Vernon.
