EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly stopping in the middle of the road without warning due to mechanical issues and causing a collision.
Amber Walker filed a complaint on March 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Stephen Kelsall, alleging he failed to warn other drivers on the road of any impending danger.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 2, 2017, she was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on Berm Highway in Alton when the defendant caused a crash.
As a result, Walker claims she sustained injuries to her chest, back, sternum, right knee, neck and ribs.
The plaintiff alleges Kelsall negligently stopped in the middle of the roadway without warning, failed to move his vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway and failed to use flashers to signify he was having mechanical issues.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $50,000, plus costs of this action.
She is represented by Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
