Couple accuses Anco Insulations of negligence after husband's cancer diagnosis

Asbestos 04

BELLEVILLE — A couple is suing asbestos products manufacturers, citing alleged failure to warn and negligence.

Randy Viverette and Barbara Viverette filed a complaint March 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Anco Insulations, Flowserve US Corp., Foster-Wheeler Corp. and others alleging they recklessly disregarded the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that at various times during Randy Viverette's work, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers coming from products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. On March 30, 2016, he first became aware that he developed lung cancer. He claims he has suffered pain and anguish, lost wages and incurred medical expenses. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages of more than $50,000. They are represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
