Motorist sues over Edwardsville collision

Car accident 08

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing an Edwardsville collision.

Robert Cole III filed a complaint on March 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Sheldon Hoefft, alleging he failed to use ordinary care while operating his motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 22, 2017, he was driving his 2014 Jeep southbound on Troy Road in Edwardsville. Cole claims he was entering the intersection with Center Grove Road when the defendant negligently made a left hand turn and collided with plaintiff's vehicle.

As a result, Cole claims he sustained injuries to his left shoulder, left arm, neck and head.

The plaintiff alleges Hoefft failed to yield the right of way, failed to keep proper lookout and failed to take evasive actions to avoid colliding with the plaintiff's vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus court costs.

He is represented by Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
