Man alleges injuries from Collinsville crash

Car accident 09

EDWARDSVILLE — A driver claims another motorist turned in front of him on IL-157 in Collinsville and caused a collision.

Matthew E. Johnson filed a complaint on March 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Charles N. Davis, alleging he breached his duty to exercise reasonable care while operating a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 7, 2017, he was driving his 2012 Mazda 6 southbound on IL -157 in Collinsville. At the same time, the defendant was coming from the opposite direction when he carelessly attempted to make a left turn and collided with plaintiff's vehicle, the suit states.

Johnson claims he sustained serious and permanent injuries to his neck, back and hand.

The plaintiff alleges Davis negligently attempted to make a right hand turn when it was not safe to do so, failed to yield to incoming traffic and failed to maintain careful lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of this action and all further relief that the court may deem proper and just.

He is represented by James L. Gehrs of Becker, Hoerner, Thompson, Ysursa PC in Belleville.
