Former J.F. Electric employee alleges retaliation for work comp claim

Wrongful term 14

EDWARDSVILLE — An employee is suing J.F. Electric for allegedly terminating him for filing a workers compensation claim.

Jack Holshouser filed a complaint on March 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against J.F. Electric Inc., alleging it wrongfully discharged him for pretextual reasons.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 1, 2016, he injured his left leg and ankle while in the course and scope of his employment with the defendant. Subsequently, he filed a workers compensation claim with the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission. He claims he was terminated on March 13, 2018, in retaliation.

As a result, the plaintiff claims he suffered lost wages and employment benefits, emotional harm and damage to his reputation.

The plaintiff alleges J.F. Electric retaliated against him and terminated his employment for exercising his rights.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus all further relief as the court deems just and proper.

He is represented by David C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson Attorney at Law PC in Belleville.
