Man alleges exposure to asbestos from Crane Co., others caused cancer

Asbestos 09

BELLEVILLE – A man previously employed at various locations in Wisconsin alleges asbestos exposure caused him to develop lung cancer.

John Lach and Margaret Louise Lach filed a complaint on Feb. 27 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Crane Co., FMC Corp., Ingersoll-Rand Co., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that during John Lach's employment and military career from 1957 to 2003, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. The suit states that on or about Aug. 29, 2017, he became aware that he had developed lung cancer, an asbestos-induced disease, and that the disease was wrongfully caused.

The plaintiffs hold Crane, FMC, Ingersoll-Rand, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when they knew that asbestos had a toxic, poisonous and highly deleterious effect to human health, and they failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiffs seek compensatory damages of more than $50,000 and all further relief as the court may deem appropriate. They are represented by Ethan A. Flint and Laci M. Whitley of Flint Law Firm LLC in Edwardsville.
