Woman seeks damages from Tenova Core, others over father's cancer death

Asbestos 11

BELLEVILLE – A woman alleges her father's death from cancer was caused by his exposure to asbestos fibers during his career.

Angela Arnold, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Jerry Lee Arnold, deceased, filed a complaint on Feb. 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Alfa Laval Inc., Cooper Crouse-Hinds LLC, Tenova Core Inc., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during Jerry Lee Arnold's life, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. The suit states that on or about May 25, 2017, he first became aware that he developed lung cancer, which ultimately led to his death on July 1, 2017. Before his death, he experienced great pain, mental anguish and disability, and incurred medical expenses, the plaintiff alleges.

The plaintiff holds Alfa Laval, Cooper Crouse-Hinds, Tenova Core, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available, and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
