EDWARDSVILLE — A customer claims he was injured when he tripped on a broken wooden post at Brazz Monkee.

Robert Marshall filed a complaint on March 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Nightlife Promotions LLC, doing business as Brazz Monkee, and Betty Adams, alleging they breached their duties to exercise ordinary care in maintaining their business premises.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 1, 2016, he was a customer at the Brazz Monkee bar when he tripped and fell over a broken wooden post.

Marshall claims he suffered severe and permanent injuries, great pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, disability and loss of income.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently permitted the premises to remain in a dangerous and unsafe condition and failed to warn him and other guests of the tripping hazard.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in a sum greater than $50,000, plus costs of this suit.

He is represented by Gregory Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
