Driver, passenger allege distracted motorist caused collision

Car accident 29

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist and her passenger are suing another motorist for allegedly causing a collision.

Kathleen Halwachs and Audrey Noonan filed a complaint on March 2 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Carla L. Harris, alleging she breached her duty to exercise reasonable care in operating her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on April 8, 2016, Halwachs and Noonan were in a vehicle driven by Halwachs when Harris suddenly crashed into their vehicle.

They claim they suffered injuries resulting in disability, disfigurement, pain, mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses.

The plaintiffs allege Harris negligently drove her vehicle while distracted, failed to yield the right of way and failed to keep proper lookout.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this action and any other remedy that is just and proper.

They are represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
