Tenant of Caseyville property alleges unsafe steps caused fracture

BELLEVILLE – A tenant alleges his landlord failed to provide reasonably safe steps to his unit.

Jason M. White filed a complaint on Feb. 22 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dennis Warren, alleging violation of the Illinois Premises Liability Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is a tenant of the defendant and resides at a Caseyville property owned by Warren. On Sept. 26, 2017, White was attempting to ascend the steps going to his unit when the wood covering on the concrete steps rolled, causing him to lose his footing.

White alleges he suffered a fracture to his lower right extremity and sustained soft tissue injuries.

The plaintiff alleges Warren failed to provide reasonably safe steps leading to his unit.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.

He is represented by Brian M. Wendler, Angie M. Zinzilieta and Paul Rademacher of Wendler Law PC in Edwardsville.
