BELLEVILLE – A Vandalia man alleges he was terminated in retaliation for filing a workers' compensation claim.
Arnold Riviera filed a complaint on Feb. 16 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Stock Transport Inc., alleging retaliatory discharge.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendant as a stock employee in Mattoon. The suit states he suffered a work-related injury on Jan. 11 and made an application for adjustment of claim with the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission. The suit states he was terminated Jan. 29.
The plaintiff alleges Stock Transport retaliated against him and terminated his employment for exercising his rights under the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant of more than $50,000 and all other relief that is just and appropriate.
