Woman alleges she was terminated from Papa Murphy's for reporting porn on work computer

Wrongful term 01

BELLEVILLE – A woman formerly employed as a store manager at a Swansea location alleges that she was terminated in retaliation for insisting a work computer not be used by an employee to display pornography.

Kristine Cortez filed a complaint on Feb. 15 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nagol LLC and Roger Miller, alleging retaliatory discharge.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed as a store manager for Nagol LLC's Papa Murphy's store in Swansea. The suit states the plaintiff reported to Miller that his brother and her supervisor were using the desktop computer in the manager's office "for exchange of pornographic material and sexual content" in November 2016. The suit states she was terminated Sept. 15, 2017.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants terminated her employment in retaliation for her insistence that the workplace computer not be used to display pornographic images.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000, attorney's fees, and costs of this suit.

She is represented by John H. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
