Car accident 40

EDWARDSVILLE – A Godfrey man is seeking damages from a Shipman driver following a collision in Wood River.

Travis L. Smith filed a complaint on Feb. 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Michael B. Cherry, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 4, he was traveling in a 2003 GMC Yukon heading east on state Route 143 at its intersection with South Central in Wood River when the defendant carelessly entered the intersection and collided with his vehicle.

Smith claims he suffered injuries to his knee, head, neck and back as a result of the collision.

The plaintiff alleges Cherry failed to maintain his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep proper lookout and failed to use precautions to avoid colliding with plaintiff's vehicle.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of court.

He is represented by Keith Short and Jack Daugherty of Law Offices of Keith Short PC in Collinsville.
