EDWARDSVILLE – A motorist alleges another driver's failure to maintain a proper lookout caused a collision.

Melena Lara filed a complaint on Feb. 21 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Eloy Witwer, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 6, 2017, she was driving a Ford Focus in a safe manner when Witwer violently struck her vehicle. As a result, Lara claims she sustained injuries and property damage.

The plaintiff alleges Witwer failed to maintain proper lookout and failed to reduce speed or stop his vehicle to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater then $50,000, plus costs of this action.

She is represented by Joshua R. Evans of The Unsell Law Firm PC in East Alton.
