Driver alleges motorist's U-turn caused Highway 162 collision

Car accident 43

EDWARDSVILLE – A Maryville man alleges a Fairview Heights driver attempted to make a U-turn when it was unsafe to do so and caused a collision.

Thomas Angelo filed a complaint on Feb. 16 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Danielle Cooley, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 10, 2016, he was driving a motor vehicle eastbound on Highway 162 near the northbound on-ramp to Interstate 255 when Cooley struck his vehicle while making a U-turn.

Angelo claims he sustained serious and permanent injuries to his neck, back, chest, right shoulder, right leg, right knee, right ankle and left leg as a result of the collision.

The plaintiff alleges Cooley carelessly attempted to make a U-turn when it was unsafe to do so, failed to maintain careful lookout and failed to yield to the right of way.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of the action and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper.

He is represented by Ely Hadowsky of Brown & Brown LLP in St. Louis.
