BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing a construction company after she tripped on a piece of raised concrete while leaving the St. Clair County courthouse.

Angela Stevenson filed a complaint on Feb. 12 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Don Mueller Construction Company, alleging the contractor failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 22, 2016, she was a pedestrian leaving the St. Clair County courthouse when she tripped and fell over a piece of concrete that was raised due to moisture on the ground.

As a result, Stevenson claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries to her left shoulder and was caused to suffer great pain and anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Don Mueller Construction Company negligently allowed the existence of a dangerous condition and failed to place a warning sign around it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of no less than $50,000, plus costs of suit and any further relief that the court deems just and proper.

She is represented by Chet A. Kelly of Foley & Kelly LLC in Belleville.
