Motorist sues over Route 143 rear-end collision

Car accident 20

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a rear-end collision on Illinois Route 143.

Stacey J. Desilva filed a complaint on Feb. 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Kyla M. Snyder, alleging she breached her duty to use reasonable care while driving a motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 2, 2017, she was traveling west on Illinois Route 143 near Highland Park Road when Snyder struck the rear of her vehicle with great force.

As a result, Desilva claims she sustained severe and debilitating injuries that required medical treatment and was caused to endure pain and suffering, disability and loss of normal life.

The plaintiff alleges Snyder failed to maintain her vehicle under proper control, failed to keep proper lookout and drove her vehicle at a dangerously high rate of speed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs and any further relief that is just and proper.

She is represented by Eric J. Carlson of Byron Carlson Petri & Kalb LLC in Edwardsville.
