Motorist alleges injuries from Route 161 collision

Car accident 23

BELLEVILLE — A driver is suing another motorist for allegedly causing a collision on Route 161.

Jo Ellen Kassebaum filed a complaint on Feb. 6 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Erik Blair, alleging he failed to drive an automobile with reasonable care for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 10, 2016, she was traveling west on Illinois Route 161 near its intersection with Shadow Ridge Court when the defendant caused his vehicle to collide with the plaintiff's vehicle.

As a result, Kassebaum claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries, great pain and mental anguish, and was prevented from doing her usual duties.

The plaintiff alleges Blair carelessly drove his vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable and without keeping proper lookout and failed to use evasive actions to avoid colliding with other vehicles.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

She is represented by Kenneth B. Beljanski of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
