EDWARDSVILLE – A patron at an Alton tavern alleges he was shot by an intoxicated patron and is seeking damages from the business.

Michael Deist filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the Madison County Circuit Court against TRKYMIK Inc., doing business as Riverside Saloon, alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 13, 2017, he was playing video poker at the defendant's premises when he was shot by Kelly Coronzo Coley. The suit states the bullet lodged in the plaintiff's neck and caused paralysis and other life-threatening injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide adequate security, failed to prohibit firearms on the premises, failed to eject Coley from the premises and served Coley an excessive amount of alcohol.
